Night Sky White Balance
Making the night sky appear natural is more difficult than it might seem.
My approach is as follows:
In Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw or Camera Raw filter (Photoshop):
a) Increase Vibrance & Saturation to 100%
b) Toggle the Temperature slider back and forth between blue and yellow; find the transition point between yellow and blue and leave it there.
c) Same for the Tint slider; slide it back and forth between green and magenta and find the transition point.
d) Refine the Temperature transition point then the Tint transition point if needed.
e) Return Vibrance and Saturation back to 0.
This procedure generally results in a neutral sky with a cream-colored central band of the Milky Way.
